CAUTION: It is against the law to store hazardous or combustible
materials such as gasoline, solvents, paints, etc. Equipment or
containers which may contain any such materials must be emptied prior
to storing.
Measure your largest item. This will determine the minimum size unit
needed.
Plan your storage space. Place items that you may need often in front;
allow room for aisles.
Inventory your belongings and keep list in a safe place. Number each
box and label contents for ease of reference.
Use uniform boxes to aid in stacking. Stack lighter boxes on top. Do
not overload boxes.
Place items on pallets to protect against changing temperatures of
concrete floors. This is a potential issue for any concrete floor.
Pallets are available at Rindge Mini Storage and free to customers.
Dishes and glasses should be wrapped in paper, boxed and stored on top.
Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in cardboard or crates, marked
"Fragile", and stacked on end.
Cover furniture with protective plastic. Sofas and loveseats can be
stored on end with a protective waterproof material under the end resting
on the pallets. Wrap cushions in protective wrapping and place on top.
Furniture with drawers can be utilized as storage places for knick
knacks, china, silverware or other small items. Wrap items in paper or
fabric for protection.
Remove table legs (if removable) to save storage space.
Treat surfaces of antiques and wood furniture before storing.
Stand up mattresses completely upright to prevent them
from bending out of shape.
Are you moving? Consider these tips...
Give adequate notice of your new address. You can do this through your
local post office or online at usps.com.
Notify your doctor, dentist, and other medical providers of your move
and new destination.
Arrange to have your medical records, school records and other important
documents transferred where appropriate.
Change over utility connections. Update your address on subscriptions
and other home delivery services.
Notify/update insurance providers/policies including: Homeowners, Auto
and Life.
Update your license with your new address. Register your car in your
new hometown within 5 days of arrival.
Change over banking (if you aren't keeping your current bank). Update
direct deposit information as necessary. With internet access, changing
banks is not as necessary as it used to be.

If you have a dog, get a dog license from your new town.
